Pretty much anything that previous would be near impossible with henchies in the mix and that needed actual real players to do. It's for the better because otherwise players would have to find real people to play certain missions, and with so much elitism going around, people hardly want to play together anymore despite the game nearing it death as it gets even older and approaches GW2. The game's only hope is to have full on hero accessibility.

This is true... but we already hindered that quality by adding heroes in the first place.. thus making people less competent than you are obsolete... i guess we might as well go all the way.

Holy shit, Anet is listening to us.
Of course, we've yet to see John add even a single thing to this game as head developer, so I'm going to camp out in the "seeing is believing" area for right now.
I have no reason to doubt him (and I'm not saying I do), but we really haven't been given a reason to trust him yet either.
EDIT: Also, did anyone screencap/c+p the blog before it went down? I didn't see it and I'm assuming it had more than 1 question on it.

So which do you guys think we will get first? A ton of nerfs because people figured out how to clear elite areas in 30 mins with a full hero group or the dervish update?
|
*sigh* OK I will put my bet and it will be both xD

Discord/Sabway combined with spiritway, an ER prot and a Panic mesmer.. sounds like auto win to me.
I love this news, can't wait for the update.

Since no one is active in my guild or my friends list anymore, running with 7 heroes makes me pretty happy. I'll wait until they actually implement it before I get too excited though. It will definitely help me get my hard mode titles with a lot less stress.

Woah, let me get this straight.
He's promising...- New Canthan Content
- GvG changes/better PvP rewards (and maybe better PvE rewards? Didn't seem him expressly say that)
- Halloween "surprises"
- Embark Beach (awesome idea after the HoM rewards got announced)
- Full Hero Parties plus the new hero that he's already talked about
- AND new Mad King jokes?
This guy has some serious cojones. Let's hope he's got the fortitude to pull it off.
EDIT: AND the Dervish skill update.

It bugs the living crap out of me when people say that full hero groups are an automatic "win" button.
Eight humans with 3 PvE skills each are VASTLY superior to a full hero party. I know, because I run the Zaishen missions/bonuses with PUG humans AND H/H, depending on character and the availability of humans. When the humans are competent (which is often), they are ALWAYS faster and more effective than H/Hing it. Given a choice, I'll always go with humans.
The problem is, the population DOESN'T GIVE ME the choice of running with people on my schedule. So giving me 7 heroes is fantastic, because it lets me play the game when I want to, how I want to. What's wrong with that?
Why does anyone CARE if the game suddenly gets simpler for some folk? Why is it a "problem" if people copy PvX builds?
I don't use PvX; it's much more fun to try out my own builds, experimenting. Give me seven heroes, and I'll have a great time trying out weird group dynamics.
As it is, decision made, and it was a good one. No one is stopping you from doing things the "hard" way; no one is telling anyone to stop grouping with people. And having full hero parties will not stop me from PuGging.

Knowing where everyone is for doing missions, vanquishing, and even some quests is extremely useful. It's almost like a global Party Search, but not quite. This solution is much simpler in some senses.

Couldn't possibly AGREE more! PLEASE disable trade chat in Embark Reach B4 it's released.
ANY other town should be used for trades to pre-empt the inevitable SPAM that requires everyone to turn off trade chat when they enter the town...
I've been pleading for something like Embark Reach since HM 1st came out. TYVM ANET!!!

That all depends on what 8 humans you are talking about.

And a Dervish Skill update. I'm kind of surprised. I'm really looking forward to all of the above. That is; if it happens.

You have to admit, though, even if he doesn't get this done he's still got some huge huevos rancheros just for talking about all of it.
I mean, Linsey made some big posts about upcoming changes (and some didn't go so well), but I don't think she ever made an announcement this jam packed with such a tight schedule on it. I mean, a lot of this he's said will be here around Halloween, and that's a pretty bold statement considering that he's never added anything to the game as the team lead.
Honestly, whether he does this stuff now or not, this guy is still my hero. He has the chance to completely revitalize the game or cause a shitstorm the likes of which have never been seen in GW.
I can picture him kicking back with a cigar in his office watching his computer screen in either scenario, and for me, that's just gold.

How is making every outpost in the entire game obsolete a perfect solution? And what problem is this guy attempting to solve anyway?
